And, sure enough, after installing it in the default Ubisoft Connect location (C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games), the game started without any hitch. So, fast forward to today, after I tried every possible solution to run Splinter Cell Blacklist on Windows 11 (the game would not actually launch, although the process was there), I realized that, again, I had installed it on drive D, so I said. Either way, this solution was not an isolated case, it did work in a repeatable manner on other Windows installations. It's still a mystery why the game failed to work properly on another drive (especially because I did try everything related to permissions - including running the game as administrator, in compatibility mode, etc). Anyway, after many days of trying all kinds of things, I've finally found a solution that basically fixed all of those problems: installing the game in the default Ubisoft location on the C drive/Program Files. That game was exhibiting some of the strangest buggy behavior that I've ever seen: missing sounds/sound distortion (especially bad during cutscenes), missing textures (in certain areas of the game you could literally fall through an invisible floor), characters that would just freeze in a certain section, which prevented you to continue the game, etc. The full story, maybe it will help others: I remembered having issues with another Ubisoft game: Prince of Persia (2008), when I tried to run it on a modern PC & Windows 10 a couple of years ago. After a day of fighting with this game, I finally found a solution!
